This paper deals with questions concerning the status of disabled performers and their social judgment. The paper briefly discusses the relevant clause of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. We present companies and associations with some of the disabled performers. The study analyzes Jerome Bel’s performance in Hungary through a double, emancipative lens. The paper explores from a European perspective how the domestic and foreign theatrical profession and audience per- ceive imperfect bodies on stage. The aim of analyzing the discussed approaches and exercises was to make these new approaches known to a wider professional circle.
