Andrea is a professor of special needs education at the Carl von Ossietzky University, Oldenburg. She earned her habilitation in Communication Science (2006, Pécs) and her PhD in Comparative Educational Science (2001, Leipzig). For eight years, she worked in facilities for individuals with intellectual, communicative, and complex disabilities. For approx. ten years, Andrea taught and conducted research at ELTE Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. Since 2007, she is affiliated with the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, where she established an AAC counseling center.
Her current research focuses on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), particularly on reducing communication barriers and enabling self-determination in healthcare using participatory research methods.
Since 2025, Andrea has been a member of the editorial board of the Hungarian Journal of Disability Studies and Special Education. |
