On the Power Approach of Critical Disability Studies

In 2019, Disability Studies Conference focused on the problem of power. This choice of subject assumes tight connection between the phenomenon of disability and power. This idea raises the need for examining the relation from the perspective of political theory.
In the first chapter of the study, I show the well-known French thinker’s, Michel Foucault’s views on power which highly influenced critical social sciences. After that, I analyse the power approach of critical disability studies. Finally, I point out three inherent contradictions of this power-centered thought.
