Zsuzsa is professor emerita at the ELTE Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. She obtained a Candidate of Sciences degree (1991) in education from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Her researches are related to special education; with the focus on the school education of children with learning disabilities, as well as on comparative and international special education.

Zsuzsa was founder and first lead editor of the Hungarian Journal of Disability Studies and Special Education from 2008 to 2014, and a member of the editorial team of the Journal of Special Education from 1973 to 1988.
