In our study, we show the main methodological conclusions of a participatory research. In our project, as two participants of a personal assistance (PA) cooperation, we examined the experiences of a two-month period spent together, focusing on the process of getting to know each other. In our research, we analysed several aspects of our personal relation, e.g., the complex character of PA service, the role of our positive and negative prejudices, and the dynamics of work and leisure time. In the first part, we summarize the characteristics of the applied methodological framework, namely duoethnography. After discussing the justification for using this method in the field of disability studies, we present the advantages and disadvantages we experienced, concentrating on three topics, more concretely, the (a)symmetrical nexus of the research partners, the phenomenon of interdependency, and the question of authorship.
